How does immunotherapy help my allergies? |
Allergy immunotherapy injections are the most effective long-term preventive strategy for allergy treatment. They build up a patient’s immunity to the exact items to which he or she is allergic, including pollens, dust mites, molds, animal dander, or stinging insect venoms. Patients on immunotherapy generally have substantial reduction in their allergy symptoms as well as reduced need for medication. |
What things should I avoid before or after getting my shots? |
 |
If you have high fever or a flare of your asthma, it is best to postpone allergy injections until you are better. We recommend avoiding sunbathing, hot tubs/saunas, or hard exercise involving the arms for 1-2 hours after injections. |
